Making Maryland More Afforable
Brooke is getting Marylanders their money back.
The state is holding $2.7 billion in unclaimed property – and some of it might be yours. Brooke made it simple to check and claim what you're owed, fought to keep free tax filing free when Washington tried to kill it, and pushed the credits families qualify for but never claim.
Improving Government Services
Brooke replaced a 30-year-old tax system (in her first term).
It's more than a new website. Her agency transferred billions of records onto a new platform so you can file for free, online, and on your phone. No more endless lines. No more painstaking phone calls. Plus, her staff can work more efficiently – and get your refund to you faster.
Increasing Accountability and Oversight
Brooke stewards and scrutinizes billions in state spending – in public.
At the Board of Public Works, Brooke votes on billions in state contracts and treats every dollar like it's yours, because it is. She launched quarterly dashboards tracking Maryland's economy and publishes plain-language reports on where the money goes, so anyone can follow it.
Protecting Maryland's Future
Brooke treats climate change like the financial risk it is.
As vice-chair of Maryland's pension board, Brooke pushed the state's investments to account for climate risk – because a retirement fund that ignores a changing climate isn't protecting anyone. From the Bay to the shoreline, she's making sure Maryland plans for the long run.
Defending Reproductive Freedom
Brooke supports full reproductive freedom – including mifepristone access.
Marylanders voted to put reproductive freedom in the state constitution, and Brooke stands with them. She'll always defend access to abortion and medication like mifepristone against interference from Washington.
Sensible Gun Legislation
Brooke believes no Marylander should live in fear of a gun.
Before she was Comptroller, Brooke represented Baltimore in the House of Delegates, where she backed Maryland's toughest gun safety laws – from red flag protections to the ghost gun ban. She'll keep standing with families and communities doing the work to end gun violence, and against anyone who'd roll those protections back.
